Lulu Jama is a dedicated researcher, academic, policy analyst, and community organiser who investigates how geopolitical and social issues compound to create systemic vulnerabilities and inequities for marginalised communities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of British Columbia. Her interests lie in geopolitical issues and capacity-building that aim to foster inclusive, decolonial approaches to knowledge creation and community.
Her work bridges academic inquiry with challenging colonial structures within institutional spaces. She co-authored a paper that has been accepted in the journal of New Area Studies entitled “Towards a Critical Anti-Colonial Canadian Studies? A Communal Pedagogic Project,” which explores critical knowledge production, storytelling, and ontological geography.
Through her scholarship and organising work, Lulu seeks to build transformative connections between theory and practice, advocating for pedagogical approaches that honour Indigenous sovereignty and cultivate the critical capacities needed to address systemic inequities.
