Youssef Bentahar is a research fellow at Middle East & Africa Institute of Strategic Studies. He previously worked as a Business Analyst at BNP Paribas before joining Business France as Operations Manager, where he was responsible for organising the French delegation at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. In this role, he oversaw the recruitment and coordination of start-ups, with a particular focus on the Sport Tech delegation. He later served as an economics editor at La finance pour tous, an educational association supported by institutions including the Banque de France and the French Ministry of Education.
He holds a Master in Management from ESCP Business School, with specialisations in Economics & Public Policy and Applied Data Science. His academic and research interests include economics, public policy, geopolitics, institutions and governance, the history of civilisations, philosophy, and Islamic finance. His master’s thesis explored the theme of “Islamic Economics Against Capitalism’s Setbacks”.
Youssef is currently pursuing a PhD at King’s College London. His doctoral research, titled “Conceptualising an Islamic Political Model as a Normative Framework for Public Policy Design and Implementation in Muslim-Majority Countries”, examines the relationship between political theory, governance, and public policy within contemporary Muslim-majority societies.
